How to enable integrated wireless ABG on HP Pavilion Laptop

Hi! I just installed Linux yesterday on my HP Pavilion dv6265 and it has a wireless card that my Ubuntu device manager calls "Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Wireless Connection" but the wireless status LED on my laptop (the one by the wireless on/off switch) is currently red and I cannot get any sort of wireless connection going. Obviously with a laptop integrated wireless is a necessity - could someone suggest a method or two by which I might sort this out?

its a bitch lol
but I managed to get mine working for the most part.
I will be posting everything I did to get it to work just as soon as i can get it to work on my home network. Currently its only working on my schools network.

Its for Fedora Core 6 though. The approach should be similar though.
