How to change X resolution on Toshiba m35x s149?

I have the laptop running at 1024x768 but I want it at 1200x800 (I have widescreen). The resolution can be changed to 800x600 and 640x480 according to the panel on the linux distro (Ubuntu).
According this page the video card is a Intel 855GM.
Here is the relevant part at XF86config-4.

Code:
Section "Screen"
	Identifier	"Default Screen"
Device "Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device"
	Monitor "Generic Monitor"
	DefaultDepth	24
	SubSection "Display"
		Depth 1
		Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1200x800" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
	EndSubSection
	SubSection "Display"
		Depth 4
		Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1200x800" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

You might try cutting down the default color depth to 16 instead of 24.

It works now!. I followed what I found on http://www.d.umn.edu/~salu0005/linux_installation.html, specifically:
This is what I added to the Monitor section of the file:
ModeLine "1280x800" 83.46 1280 1344 1480 1680 800 801 804 828

and this to the Screen section:
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Virtual 1280 800
EndSubsection
