Toshiba Laptop Resolution Problems

Toshiba Laptop Resolution Problems

Im extremely new to the Linux scene, I set up a Fedora Core 3 last night and everything seems to have gone smoothly, but the problem is the screen resolution, when running Windows my laptop runs at 1280x800, yet any resolution above 800x600 in Linux seems to garble up the whole screen. I can see that things are smaller and clearer, except it appears its only applying to 2/3 of the screen, after which the screen starts to repeat. So there are some icons on the leftside of the screen, but they also appear on the right side though they do not do anything.
also i tried to change the options with the colours.i put that on midlle option,
but nothing changed.
I will be great full if you answer my question
Regards
Ali Raein

Out of curiousity, why did you copy my post from this thread almost verbatim?

You might try using the search function on this site using the terms:
1280x800 xorg.conf gtf

There should be a full page of similar threads, as this is a common question.
