how to access SD card reader ricoh R5C822

My laptop, dell e1505, has this SD reader.
how do i access the card in it?

What distro?

If you have HAL installed on your machine it should "just work". All you need to do is plug the card in. Otherwise, on any distro running a 2.6 kernel, it should show up as a scsi entry under /dev (usually an sd* entry) which you can use to mount it.

fc5. hal works, but not with this. i've heard that ricoh things like this do not work in linux.
dmesg says nothing.
