Graphics card... intel or nvidia?

Hi,

I am planning to buy a new notebook. In particular for the video card my options are:

1 - Intel® Media Accelerator 4500MHD

2 - NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9300M GS de 256MB

I know that nvidia is the best. But in terms of driver, what is the best one?

It is easy to found linux drivers for intel video cards? Or nvidia is more easy?

I have downloaded Nvidia drivers in the past for Windows, and as far as I know there should be (proprietary) drivers available for Linux as well.

As far as Intel is concerned, I am not sure. However, as Intel is quite actively involved in the development of Linux, it seems reasonable that they might have commited good, open drivers into the kernel already.

Intel is directly involved in Xorg development, so most of their hardware works out-of-the-box on Linux. Go for Intel if you are not concerned with playing games.

NVIDIA offer a binary only driver for Linux that has been packaged by most distros & should be easy to get working. This driver performs pretty well & should give good 3D performance.
The driver is not open source though and can sometimes be broken by distro updates.

I have just recently got one of the Dell studio XPS 1340's, running an GeForce 9400M G 512mb... I installed just a stock Ubuntu 9.04 and it automatically installed the proprietary nVidia drivers and configured them which I thought was nice, and the systems seems to run really well with compiz and all the other pretty things I love

The advantage of the Intel cards is that their drivers are actually open source, so if you wanted to support that then Intel is the way to go... And being open source I would assume they would be a little less temperamental than some of my past experiences with nVidia.

I am pretty happy with my purchase though, and how well it was able to be set up in Ubuntu, really I don't think it will make too much difference depending on what you want to do with it all.
