Fedora on an iBook G3 .

Trying to find the latest download version of fedora that will run on an iBook G3, 600mhz dual USB. Not sure if Fedora 18 is it. Any help is appreciated.

Fedora Requirements states that for Fedora 18 you should have:
  • a CD or DVD drive, and the capability to boot from this drive.
  • a 400 MHz processor or faster
  • at least 1 GB of memory (RAM)
  • at least 10 GB of permanent storage (hard drive) space.

This is the minimum needed to run Fedora 18 with a GUI.

You have not stated your RAM, but it looks fine.

After a bit of Google-Fu, I found that iBooks with that processing speed had between 128 MB and 256 MB standard RAM.

If this is the case, then a much earlier version may be required; sorry.

Just a reminder too, that Fedora is a quickly developed distro with versions out about twice a year. As such older versions run out of support time so it may not be a good idea to use older versions as there'd be no support. Unless you have a need for Fedora you may want to look around for a distro that will fit the capabilities of the laptop better.

Indeed, I agree.

Perhaps something like Lubuntu.
It's System Requirements are low even for the full install.

However, you may wish to look at the Minimal Install, should you chose to go with this distribution.

The latest version of Fedora the supports PowerPC CPUs is indeed Fedora 18, but it supports only 64 bit PowerPC CPUs, while your G3 is a 32 bit CPU. The latest Fedora version that supports 32 bit is Fedora 17.
If you want to have longer support you may want to have a look at the freshly released Debian 7, it also has a PowerPC version.
Lubuntu may indeed also be an option, PowerPC support for Lubuntu 13.04 is also available.

Trying Lubuntu 13.04 for iBook G3

Thanks
I'll try Lubuntu 13.04 and see how it performs. I do have 384MB of Ram installed.
