Can't find wireless card

Ok, I'm running slackware 13.1 on an old Dell inspiron 6000 (dual booted with xp) xp can find the wireless card but slackware can't. If I do a ifconfig I can see eth0 and lo (the loopback) but nothing else (I think a wireless card should come up as wlan0...?). How can I switch it on?

What kind of wireless device is it? Can you run lspci and post the output here (assuming it's a PCI/PCMCIA device; if not, run lsusb instead)?

Yeah I've got this line with lspci:

03:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)

How do I activate it though?

Wicd worked for me. Cheers. For some reason it wasn't in my /extra directory though (maybe because it was an install cd rather than DVD?)

Did you have an "extra" directory? If so, it should have been in there. If not, then you probably didn't download that CD (extra is on CD 4).
