Blank screen after installing ubuntu

Have an OKINB0108 Laptop, preinstalled windows Vista (how I hate it). As I have Linux Backtrack on my old laptop,Fujitsu,thought get rid of Windows.

Seems to load, reboots,then ask what system I want to use, I pick Ubuntu, then screen go´s blank, and could wait for ever,it will not run. Reboot,select Windows,no problem.

Know I am not all that computer literate,thought having got Backtrack on one,should be no problem.

Anyone else have same problem?

Sounds like your grub configuration is bad
Which partition is /boot? Which is /? You should find that in /etc/fstab

show us what /boot5/grub/menu.lst (= menu.list with no 'i') says. You will probably be able to boot from the live cd and look..

Thanks, can I come back to you in about 2 weeks, just waiting for taxi to get to airport for needed holiday, had enough of 40 during the day, and 24 plus at night,, no one warns you about the temperatures here in Spain when you make the move.

Will let you know outcome.
