Question Having the same problem

Hi.

I am having the exact same problem running Mepis 7.0 Beta 5 on my Compaq Presario 2108US AMD laptop. After 4 minutes, it boots and works perfectly. I didn't have the problem with Mepis 6.5, which used an older kernel. 7.0 is using 2.6.22-1.

Have you learned any more about this?

Solved! Maybe?

I may have your solution!

I honestly don't understand what's going on here, but I've been suffering the same problem. I got desperate and just started looking for kernel parameters to pass in, and as of 5 minutes ago I was able to boot without those errors showing up. All I did was append "pci=nomsi" to the kernel boot arguments.

So, try appending that kernel argument when you boot and see if it doesn't clear things up.

I want to reiterate that I have NO idea what's going on, and it's possible this boot was just a fluke. I'm formatting & installing right now, so I don't want to reboot to test it some more until it's finished.

So, no warranties, etc, etc.

P.S.: Apparently this MSI thing is/was giving a lot of trouble all around: http://www.mail-archive.com/fedora-k.../msg00087.html
