GDM takes a *long* time to start first time

Hey,

I installed LFS 6.2 on my computer, I'm loving the speed. Decided to install GDM from BLFS, and it works fine, except the first time I run it since last boot, it takes about 20 seconds to load. It loads X (xorg 6.9) just fine, stays with a busy cursor for a long time. I can't figure out why it does this... I don't have GNOME installed though, which might be part of it.

Thanks,
Grumpy Buffalo
