ASUS with openSUSE 11.1

I have installed openSUSE on my laptop which is F8series, the issue is after installing the os, when i connected my laptop to AC power the screen dims completely (tried live cd of KDE4 and GNOME) they does the same thing. I have installed Ubuntu and fedora 10 and they are working fine. Any ideas on how to fix this screen dims on openSUSE?

I would suggest
1. restart acpid with a -l or a -d. It then shows you what's going on, in syslog or by grabbing a terminal.

You will have an event in /etc/acpi/events relating to the power supply(e.g. 'ac'). that will call a script in /etc/acpi. That script is run, and that is causing the problem. Fix that and you are away. Or call a different script by changing the event.
