What Kernel Ring Buffer Contains?

Dear All,
Currently I am studying about Kernel Space drivers and there i have came across the term Kernel Ring Buffer, 'dmesg' command either control or print the Kernel Ring Buffer, so i want to know that what exactly the Kernel Ring Buffer contains? what are the contents inside the Kernel Ring Buffer?

Thanks,
Nishant

well as you said yourself dmesg will show the ring buffer... so that's exactly what's in it.

Hi Nishant,

Kernel ring buffer contains the all the booting messages when the kernel boots. And all the core messages related to hardware, live loaded module's etc.
For eg You want to know the the server you login-ed is virtual machine or not #dmesg | grep virtual

Best Regards,
Rajesh Gupta
