/proc for activating printks


Hi,

How can i activate printks , setting values through /proc

#echo *>/proc/sys/kernel/printk
'*' is the number that you want to set you console to this log level ,
or you can do this with
#dmesg -n *

actually ,i am not sure whether you are asking this:how to get the console display the messages that printk has sent.

Thumbs up my own printks

I have inserted some of the printks at different places in kernel

I want to turn them on/off with some flag, thats why i am trying proc

please help!!

i am afraid that i can 't help you,i only know how to produce the readonly file under proc fs.

i learned it from linux device drivers ,the chapter 4 part 3 referes to the /proc fs, you can access this book online from website:http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/linuxdrive3.
you can download the examples the site provided about this book ,soure file in scull directory will show you how to implement the /proc
