how to update kernel


hi all,

i am runing linux rhel5. i.e kernel 2.6.18-194.el5.

where to find updated packages and what the commands.

also i need to understand what is 2.6.18 in the kernel.

yum update kernel
simple. I would advise against doing anything manually outside of yum given the style of question you have asked.

As for what is in it... what does that mean? There are millions of lines of code in it, we could be here a LONG time.
