cannot find gtk+ (even though it is installed...)

hello,

i'm trying to install a newer version of a program that i've been using for a while now (it's called OOF2). i did this earlier and never had big problems (at least i could solve them...). this is the error message i get:

[felice@MicroModel oof2-2.0.5a3]$ python2.5 setup.py build
Can't find gtk+-2.0! Version 2.6.0 or later required

the thing is: i have version 2.10.0 installed on my computer. i had this problem before (when installing a previous version of this program), but then i could 'solve' it by typing

[felice@MicroModel oof2-2.0.5a3]$ export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig

that's not working this time...
any advice?

i already tried adding /usr/local/ lib and /usr/lib to the etc/ld.so.conf file (and running ldconfig afterwards) but that doesn't help...

i have mandrakelinux 10.1 on my computer (i know, it is old...)

cheers,
lies

Try with command 'rpm -qa | grep gtk'
to see if you have the '-devel' package.
(The original for mdk 10.1 was something like
libgtk+2.0_0-devel-2.4.9-4mdk.i586.rpm)

i don't know what this means (and how this will help me), but this is the reply i got:

gtk+2.0-2.4.9-9mdk
libgtk+2.0_0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk
gtkam-gimp-plugin-0.1.12-6mdk
gtksourceview-1.0.1-2mdk
libgtk+-x11-2.0_0-2.4.9-9mdk
gtkdialogs-2.1-1mdk
gtk-themes-1.0-10mdk
gtk-engines-0.12-9mdk
libgtkhtml2_0-2.6.2-1mdk
libexif-gtk4-0.3.3-6mdk
pygtk2.0-2.3.96-1mdk
libwxgtk2.5_1-2.5.1-5.3.101mdk
libgtk+2.0_0-2.4.9-9mdk
libgtkhtml1.1_3-1.1.10-6mdk
gtk-engines2-2.2.0-6mdk
libgtksourceview-1.0_0-1.0.1-2mdk
libgtkhtml-3.1_11-3.2.4-1.1.101mdk
gtkhtml-3.1-3.2.4-1.1.101mdk
libgtk+1.2-1.2.10-40mdk
pygtk2.0-wrapper-2.3.96-1mdk
gtkam-0.1.12-6mdk

should i re-install gtk+?
i'm new at this, and pretty clueless... :-(

Line 2: 'libgtk+2.0_0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk' is the -devel package,
but the version must be 2.6.0 or newer.
So if you have 2.10.0 it is not an rpm-package.
Which gtk+...2.10.0 files have you got installed?
