[Language problem] Hard real time in user space with preempt_rt patch

From: https://rt.wiki.kernel.org/articles/...ions_7407.html
Quote:
Real-time only has impact on the kernel; Userspace does not notice the difference except for better real time behavior.
Does it mean that if we write the applications in user space, they won't get the hard real time effect?

I am not able to understand the English behind it.

I don't quite understand what they're talking about, but from what I know about real-time, I would understand it to mean that for a userspace programme, there's no way of telling whether or not the kernel's been patched with the real-time patch. The only effect is that processes will have lower latency ("better real time behaviour").

Perhaps someone who understands it better will be able to give you a more definite answer.

Hope this helps,
