wireless problem


hi,
I am new to linux. I have installed opensuse 10.0 on a sony vaio. when i launch kwifi manager it tells me my wireless is out of range but it can detect wireless network around me. how can i make it work?

in a terminal, type the following things and see what you get

/sbin/iwlist scanning
this will list any available access points
/sbin/iwconfig
check to see if anything is listed on the essid section
/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 (or whatever your device is) up

ok run /sbin/ifconfig eth1 up

this should bring the interface up...i'm not sure how opensuse does dhcp, but look for a command dhcp6 or dhcp or something like that.
