Wifi card and Ethernet card get mixed

Hey,

My laptop is equiped with wifi and ethernet cards. I'm running Fedora 6. Lately both cards have started to mix up. Ethernet used to be on eth0 and wifi on eth1. Now I can see from MAC addresses that they get mix up but eth0 is still qualified as ethernet and eth1 as wireless. Indeed, when I try to activate wifi, it fails.

Ideas?

Udev?

Does Fedora use udev? If it does you could check on writing udev rules and force them to retain the same name.

My usb zd1211 device does the same thing, but atheros and ndiswrapper don't. If the kernel drivers are compiled as modules you could have only one load during bootup and start the other later, either through the rc.local (boot.local in FC?) or on-demand with a script.
