wheel mouse INSANITY!

greetings lq'ers,

I have a wheel mouse situation that no matter what I try, it will not work!!! I have searched this and
know that one or more of you can help with what I am seeing...

Machine: IBM Thinkpad - A22m - Running Fedora Core 1

Here are the following config files for your reference:

/etc/X11/XF86Config (pertinent parts...)

___________________________________________________
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"

# If the normal CorePointer mouse is not a USB mouse then
# this input device can be used in AlwaysCore mode to let you
# also use USB mice at the same time.
Identifier "DevInputMice"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
_______________________________________________________

/etc/sysconfig/mouse -->

FULLNAME="Generic - 2 Button Mouse (PS/2)"
MOUSETYPE="ps/2"
XEMU3="yes"
XMOUSETYPE="PS/2"
DEVICE=/dev/psaux

These config files are for the generic 2 button mouse (I'm using a MS PS/2 Intellimouse) --> the
only configuration that will function properly...that is, without the use of the wheel (which I need)

The problem is, is that when I run redhat-config-mouse --> and I choose generic Wheel mouse
and then reboot, the mouse cursor jumps all over the screen...and obviously the above files
will look different, then above. The same happens when I choose MS Intellimouse (PS/2).

I'm in desperate need of fixing this...ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!

just edit the xf86 config manually to use IMPS/2 and ZAxisMapping 4 5.then just avoid running the redhat config.
