I have a old Canonscan FB1200S that works really good but can't get working with Ubuntu 10.10 the Maverick Meerkat.
I wish or have to buy a new scanner I'm looking to loose very little in the scan, I was looking at the cs5600f from canon but will it work with linux.
Thanks for any help
Chris
HP supports the scanner portion of most all of their all-in-one machines with the HPLIP driver. HPLIP does not work with a scanner alone.
Stand alone scanners are still a problem with linux. If you cannot get yours working with Ubuntu 10.10, one of the older scanner marked "complete" on the SANE list is a good bet.
I use a Canon LIDE30 under SANE with openSUSE 11.2 without a problem. This was a popular model and should not be too hard to find used. If you want a higher resolution scanner, a HP all-in one with HPLIP might be your best choice.
