how would i make a scanner work in linux


hello there i have a scanner call ScanMagic 1200 UB Plus
i did xsane but i am getting this error call failed to open device 'gt68xx:libusb:001:033 invalid argument.
my is os ubuntu hoary
it is a usb scanner

please help

Hi! First go to
http://www.sane-project.org/
and see if it is a supported device. Not all scanners (even usb!) work in Linux. They also have "backends" to support some otherwise unsupported devices. I personally spent at least an hour on this site before I bought my scanner. Hope this helps!
