wake on lan??


Hi there... Do u know exactly what wake on lan provides?

I have a linux server and i was wandering if i could turn on only when a request for the web server was produced.....

Do u know if something is something like that is possible??
My ethernet card and my m/b support wol functionality

I haven't tried it, but it sounds as that's exactly what it is intended for.
On the other hand, before the computer is up the request will have timed out...
