Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Ubuntu & Kodak Esp 7

Hi
I haven't been able to get Ubuntu 10.04 to recognize my Kodak printer.

I followed the path for the cuspsd.conf file:
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf

I changed the Loglevel warning to Loglevel debug and rebooted. The printer still would not print any document.

I checked that I had :
/usr/lib/cups/filter/c2esp and I do-

I followed the pathe and looked at the ppd file
/etc/cups/ppd/Eastman-Kodak_Company-KODAK-ESP7-Aio. ppd

The ppd file has:
Code:
gutenprint
Is the line in the file that mentions gutenprint prohibiting my printer from working?

Should I delete that line in that file?

Any help is appreciated....been trying to get my printer to print for about 3 weeks now

Thanks in advance

I don't see any mention of the driver for your Kodak printer. Kodak doesn't support Linux, but there is a driver at sourceforge.

Here are two threads at the Ubuntu forum which discuss the driver:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1932158
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1682181

PS: gutenprint doesn't hurt anything. it may be needed in order to print, after you have downloaded and installed the driver.
