Unhappy TV-OUT with Twinview problems :S


Hi,

So I just decided to set up a media PC, . Alack, I can't get my Geforce4 MX440-SE to behave with the TV. I have gone through several tutorials and I can
1) Boot up connected ONLY to the TV (SVIDEO) and I can use the textprompt, but startx doesn't work (even when xorgconfig'ed to '640x480' at lowest everything).

2) Boot up with both connected and nothing shows up on the TV (ever), but the CRT works fine.

My xorg.conf should be fine ...... I have tried many, many, many different combinations of settings. Here's the current one

It looks like it's not picking up the TV correctly, unfortunately I don't know what to do about it . If I should post anything else just let me know

PS: The TV is a relativly new Toshiba 27 inch flat screen ... so there shouldn't be issues there.

Anyone have any ideas?

Since I posted I have tried setting it up as a "2" device system where each device pointed to the same thing but used different screens (0, and 1). That didn't work as well

The strangest thing is that I don't see ANYthing at all on the TV when I boot up with both the SVIDEO and RGB connected, no bios info, nothing. Is this normal?? Sometimes when I boot ONLY connected to the SVIDEO I only catch a glimpse of the AMIBIOS logo and vidcard info then the screen blanks out (no Grub, etc...).

Is there any way to test if the vidcard is the culprit? ... maybe a "memtest" for the AGP bus?

Problem solved, I switched it back to windows (and everything works fine now).

I've got this problem too (can't get TV-Output to work), but I guess I'll have to use Windows, until Nvidia includes TwinView in "nividia-settings"...

You do not use nvidia-settings. You have to add lines to either xorg.conf or XF86Config that is located in /etc/X11. Sheesh...RTFM or RTF README file!

JLTB, make sure you have double quotes at the end of MetaModes because it contains $. Remove $. In the MetaModes list, all you have is 800x600 being the lowest. You have to include an entry for 640x480 too. Each entry is seperated by semi-colon ";".

I have read the README, BTW and I didn't get it; therefore I said that I'd wait for Nvidia to include options for it in "nvidia-settings" (which they're going to).
