I have a TrippLite USB UPS that I'm trying to get to work with my RedHat 8 installation.

First off, the poweralert software they provide doesn't seem to have the correct model number (OMNISM1000USB) in it's setup program. I'm using PowerAlert 11.04.

Second, I'm not sure of what to put for the port number in the same setup program. I called their (un)help line but they told me there was a problem with RedHat with the HID USB devices (not large enough??) and that RedHat 8 and 9 aren't supported.

Does anyone have some pointers on getting this working? I suppose I could use the external modem workaround, but it would be easier to return the unit to the store (although that was very clever).
