Touchpad too sensitive

I don't know how to name my problem. It is the touchpad on a dv4155cl laptop. Sometimes, I was typing and not touching it, yet, it moved and carried with it my cursor. Is there anyway to fix it? Or it is just a characteristic of the mouse? Is there anyway to temporary disable it while I am typing on the keyboard?
Thanks in advance.
