toshiba satellite P30 NIC hw problems
Hi,
I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite P30-JC1. Recently, though, I have this problem with my computer:
I went to my computer after leaving it for 2 hours alone connected to the Internet. After entering my password in KDE, I find that the icon telling me the Internet connectivity is telling me that eth0 is down.
I right click on the icon and click on connect, enter my password, and wait. Nothing. I do it in a console instead and the computer can't have an IP address...
I look at the back of my computer to see if the "link" light of NIC is on... but it's not! it's off... I use another cable instead to connect myself, still no beat.
I boot in windows (after forcing a poweroff on my computer: the kernel crashed!), windows doesn't even see that there is an NIC card anymore! The Toshiba built in diagnostic says that there isn't one! the device manager says the same too!
Booting in linux again, I see that in verbose mode, it tells me that the device doesn't seam to be present anymore.
Drakconf doesn't show that there is ANY NIC, only the firewire and Atheros wireless Internet...
I restore my BIOS configs, (it's a laptop! it shouldn't have IRQ conflicts? right?) but turn verbose mode on.
Nothing, nothing happens! nothing works!
the driver, if I recall right, is 8139too (Realtek)...
any ideas
