Thinkin bout new sound card, any suggestions?

lately ive been listnin to lots of music i play on my computer, ive got prety good speakears, but im using the default motherboad sound card, i need better quality sound. I have mandrake 9.1 and may be switching to slack in the near future, are there any specific things i should or should not look for with linux compadability and installation. What are some recomended sound Cards? Any suggestions.

a sound blaster card all the way

i recommend an audigy..

when i boot up will it automaticly reconize it, or will i have to install patches or updates of the sort?

depends....some distros will pick it up right away and some don't...but it isn't hard to get working if it isn't picked up right away...as of right now i know that redhat8,9 and mdk9,9.1 have picked up my audigy with no problems and i didn't have to config anything...and i easily installed it on mdk8.2
