I have the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard with the onboard sound but I can't get it to work. In the BIOS it's only got options for auto and disabled. It's on auto and the speakers are plugged in. It's a realtek chip but I can't find any realtek drivers to load. Any ideas?

do you have ALSA support? have you tried to un alsaconf? if it didnt find your card, did you enable your realtec drivers in your kernel? if no then enble them, if you are missing right drivers, go to ALSA site, get a right driver, compile it, and do alsaconf again.
PS.
dude you gota be more specific on your problem, let us know what you did, what you tried, what is failing, it is hard to troubleshoot when you are saying "My sound card is not working, but my speakers are plugged in"

Ok, what I've tried so far, is I know the sound card supports AC97 and HD. So I tried all the drivers listed in the list that Suse provides in YAST that had AC97 or HD in them. I went to Realtek's site and looked for any drivers there, didn't find any. Tried Gigabyte's site (that's the mobo) to discover that it was a Reatek chip, but they had no Linux driver. Tried various other drivers in the YAST list.
Don't know how to load it in my kernel. ALSA is loaded and running. Ran alsoconf but it says it found no PNP sound cards available. BIOS only has the option Auto or disable. It's on Auto.
Checking the ALSA website, I don't find anything for realtek. Maybe it isn't a realtek? Maybe they don't make and Gigabyte listed it wrong? Mobo book just says it's the azalia codec but doesn't list a chip or vendor. Not finding Azalia on the ALSA site.
Installing anything with ALSA in it. Will get back to you to see if this works.
None of that helped.
