surround sound issue, snd_intel8x0

Hi there,

I recently got a nice set of 5.1 speakers to compliment my new system.

I'm got an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum mobo with the Realtek ACL850 7.1 onboard sound. I find that I can get stereo fine, including the bass, and duplicating the front at the back, however, when I try to use a 5.1 DVD in, for example, Kaffeine with xine, after the menu, I get a message saying that the audio device is not available/ready (when I'm trying to get 5.1 I generally have switched off the duplicate front switch in kmix):

Audio output unavailable. Device is busy. ()

If I set Kaffeine to use stereo 2.1 sound, things play fine, but anything else will give the error.

I've got kernel 2.6.11 (gentoo-r11).
Sound uses the snd_intel8x0 module.
xine-lib is 1.0-r2 (by gentoo's naming conventions).
System is compiled as 64-bit, and is a pretty recent gentoo install.

Any suggestions?
