I couldn't find anything searching on 'linux soundstick', so I suggest you send email to
technicalsupport@harman-multimedia.com , and ask them where is the linux support, drivers, etc for those beautiful speakers.
Correction: See

1. Power to sub must be on prior to pluggin in.
2. Boot with no usb speaker in.
3. plug in usb speaker after boot.
4. give us the relevant output of 'dmesg' and '/var/log/messages' after plugging in speaker, along with output of 'lsusb'
