Post sound card release

I am running RedHat Core 3 within a VMware session on a Dell Dimension 4600 computer running Windows XP Professional. before I loaded RedHat the SoundMax Integrated Digital Sound Card worked well from CD-ROMs and online radio etc. After I installed RedHat Core 3 I cannot get any sound when in Windows XP Professional even though the Properties tell me everything is working okay.
Is there a way to release the sound card from RedHat so I can gain audio in Windows XP Professional?
cheers
Tony

You can detach the sound card (and other things) via the menus in VMWare, the location in the menus varies depending on the version of VMWare though.

Thanks for the information, I have changed the settings but there must be something else blocking the sound.

Try installing alsa drivers. if u using an onboard card or a card tat uses ac 97 codecs it should work fine but again you might face problems while installing the alsamixer.
Search on google for alsa drivers
