Slow Burn Speeds

I am running Fedora Core 6 on the Xen Kernel, I noticed that after installing Fedora that my DVD drives are marked as hdc and hdd which are hard drive lables. I found a fix that changes them from hdc and hdd to scd0, and scd1. In Simply Mepis after appying this both bufferes in K3B work and I burn at the speed I am suppose to. In Fedora, it still dont work I burn at 1X when it should be 4X. I installed sdparm but have no idea how to use it. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Hey,

Not too sure what sdparm is, but you may want to try updating the firmware available for that DVD drive. You can find it on the manufacturers website and that should have instructions on how to install it.

Regards,

Brandon

p.s. Alternately, you can try Googling it if worse comes to worst.

Problem half solved

Ok, in using NeroLinux... I have found out that as a user I dont have rights to /dev/sg0, /dev/sg1, /dev/and sg2. But as root I do, If I could find out how to permenatly set the permissions on the 3 files in /dev at boot then I wouldn't have this issue. So I guess I am asking you all how to set permissions instead of running this command 3 times as root when I boot. chmod a=rwx /dev/sg[1-2]
