Skipping issues with XMMS

I'm running XMMS 1.2.7 on Gentoo w/ the 2.6.0 kernel, and nForce soundstorm audio. Whenever I play a song in XMMS, it will get a little bit through the song and then skip to another song, and sometimes it won't even read the song length correctly. It may also not even play the song. I tried recompiling XMMS, and I also am positive that the files I'm trying to play are in perfect working condition. Any suggestions? Thanks I appreciate any input.

You could try to reinstall the mp3 codecs and the id3 tag codecs. It looks like XMMS is reading the id3 tag incorrectly and is stopping the song when it thinks it Should be over.

I got it working. I had to go into the preferences in XMMS, and in the MPEG plugin, change the settings so that it read files by their content and not by their file extension. Thanks for the help.
