Wink Scanner help.. failed to open device snapscan/dev/usb/scanner

Hi

I am having a problem with my scanner.. I loaded the scanner module and sane and xsane found the scanner..

When I try to scan a image

Sane reports

[Snapscan] cannot open fimware file /path/to/your/file.bin

[Snapscan] edit the firmware file entry in snapscan.conf

Scanimage: open of device snapscan: /dev/usb/scanner0 failed: invalid argument

Xsane reports

Failed to open device 'snapscan:/dev/usb/scanner0': invalid argument

I'm using an acer s2w 4300u usb scanner..

Can anyone offer a tip or two on how to fix this... Thank you

Doesn't this answer your question? (If you do not know what this is all about look here: http://snapscan.sourceforge.net/)

scanner isn't the only problem.

Read your answer and then ask your self why people still use Windows.

A better error message would have helped also.

The sited referance gives me the answer I needed, but I have been using linux since Jolitz quit doing FreeBSD.

When you are trying to help someone who asks questions like "where can I download some more memory". This kind of answer just convinces them to stick with MSFT.

END OF RANT.

TNX for the clue.
