I have a Seagate SATA (160 GB) drive.
Not all distros locate this drive during installation.
So far I have been succeful with Zenwalk/Mandriva /Puppy only.
Other distros (Slackware 10.2/Debian 3.1/PCLOS/Vector Linux) do not show this SATA drive during installation.
In Mandriva it is shown as
"ata_piix 15364 0"
Please let me know how to make this available with all distros.
I have had very few distros that would not support my SATA drives. Right now, this machine has Fedora, Ubuntu, Mepis, PCLinuxOS, SUSE and a few others
In any event, it is a function of the individual distro---ie they need to put in the SATA driver. I think it can be compiled in or included as a kernel module.
