I have installed JPilot and Pilot Link to my RH9 (KDE) pc. The Palm is on com1 (ttys0) and the link to /dev/pilot has been made. When I run JPilot or the Pilot settings in Evolution I am unable to make the link. I do not believe that this can't be done, but am at a loss as to where I am going wrong.
This is the output I have received when I check the port (even after chmod 666):
# ls -l /dev/pilot
crw-rw-rw- 2 root tty 3, 48 Jan 30 10:24 /dev/pilot
Another check gives me this:
# pilot-xfer -l --help
No $PILOTPORT specified and no -p <port> given.
Defaulting to '/dev/pilot'
ERROR: Input/output error
Unable to bind to port '/dev/pilot'
Please use --help for more information
When I run jpilot through a terminal I receive the following error message: pi_bind: Input/output error
Update: I added users to the tty group and now get the following:
# jpilot
PC ID is 0.
I generated a new PC ID. It is 1449231813
pi_bind: Input/output error
When I try doing that I get the message that /dev/pilot is already taken (not sure of the exact message as I'm at work ATM). Should I delete /dev/pilot and try again?
Still no joy. Neither jpilot or kpilot (kde-pim) will contact my Palm. When I test the link with pilot-xfer -l the console says to press hotsync button but still will not connect.
