Add it in the chain, the easiest is the last one so it does not displace any of your existing drives if you don't have labels or use LVM. Make partitions that will take the partitions from the existing drive. Mount up the new partitions and copy the data over. Shut the machine down, remove the old drive, change SCSI ID of the new drive to that of the original. Reboot.
Further information: I usually mount the "new tree" on say /mnt/Alt, then use rsync to copy, as thus:
sudo rsync -acvSHx --delete / /mnt/Alt
sudo rsync -acvSHx --delete /var /mnt/Alt
rsync -avcRSHx --exclude /usr/share --delete /usr /mnt/Alt
You may prefer some other method. (dd, tar, cp -a, etc.), and of course must change for your partitions.
