Redhat 9.0 & Original 3dfx Voodoo card, Quake II
Hey folks. Im at a loss.
I would like to play Quake II on my linux machine. I just put in an original 3dfx voodoo card, the first one. The Quake Howto gives instructions, but it is out of date, liks are broken etc.
I have a standard Redhat 9.0 machine. I was wondering if anyone out there has this card and can give me some advice. Maybe there is a guide out there you can point me too.
My system seems to have Mesa and Glide installed already.
Glide3-devel-20010520-25
Glide3-20010520-25
XFree86-Mesa-libGLU-4.3.0-2.90.43
XFree86-Mesa-libGL-4.3.0-2.90.43
The source rpm (Device3Dfx-2.3-5.src.rpm) 3dfx drivers do not compile on my system either. I get complaints about unknows headers. Im running vanilla kernel 2.4.23 from kernel.org. Everything else is standard Redhat.
I did manage to find this package, Glide_VG-2.46-5.i386.rpm, and install it, the test3dfx just hangs. This is so old though I do not know if it will work or how/if it interacts/interferes with the Glide packages listed above.
Quake II runs fine otherwise, just no 3d. Any ideas?
