RAID5 on a Promise RM8000 - FC6
I have a Promise RM8000 array with 8 300GB Maxtor drives, using and LSIlogic SCSI card, and loaded on a FC6 system. The firmware on the Promise is updated as well.
/etc/sysconfig/hwconf sees the array:
----------------------
class: HD
bus: SCSI
detached: 0
device: sde
desc: "Promise 7 Disk RAID5"
host: 2
id: 1
channel: 0
lun: 0
----------------------
I can run fdisk or parted to create the RAID partition
I can run mkfs.ext3 and it appears to work fine.
When I try to mount the array, all I get is:
----------------------
[root ~]# mount /dev/sde1 /mnt/raid1
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sde1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
----------------------
I've done the exact same setup procedure on a Data Silo DS570 RAID with 8 250GB HD's and it works perfectly.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the heck is going on with this?
Any insights would be appreciated.
Steve
