ps/2 mouse problem in FC3

Hi,
I installed FC3 on my Intel 1.7Ghz processor the other day.During the entire installation period my optical ps/2 mouse didn't work.I completed the installation with my ps/2 keyboard. The cursor can be seen at the center of the screen but couldnot be used.i used system-config-mouse to set up my mouse as "3-button
ps/2 mouse"(Emulate 3 button),but still doesnot work.I also have windows Xp on my system and when i reboot from Linux, surprisingly my mouse doesn't even work at windows logon prompt.

can anyone help me out of this.

Well, if your mouse doesn't work with linux, or windows, I suspect there just might be a problem with the mouse.

It's usually best to check for simple things first:

Is it plugged in? Please double-check.
Does it need a battery?
...Is the battery in need of changing?
Does your mouse work on another computer?
Have you tried a different mouse with your computer?

Maybe your mouse is dead.

Oh, and welcome to LQ!
