ps 2 mouse dont work


Hi my live 5.0.4 ubuntu cant find my ps2 mouse.....
The dmesg gives me the following message


psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.

When did you start getting this problem? Do you know of a specific date (perhaps it's update related)? Were you ever able to get a PS/2 mouse to work? Have you tried a USB mouse, or a PS/2 to USB converter on your current one? What do the InputDevice sections in your xorg.conf read?

I have just installed the latest ubuntu.. and still i have the same problem
I have a compaq laptop.... touchpad works fine but still when i move mouse the dmesg gets full with the following message

psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1

This message looks really strange the ps2 mouse makes the Touchpad print a message?
The ps2 slot works fine as windows 98 have no problem....
And i cant find /etc/X11/XF86config...
