hi

firstly use root powers to check the permissions pls.

2) I hope you have no entries in fstab, for usb devices...but if you do pls post them

3) check your /var/log/messages for any errors and report pls.

4) do any of these devices have something funny about them....for example if you used an fstab with checking rule or they have a journal filesystem for a small usb device or no journal for a large device etc

In fstab I have that information:

Code:
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    defaults        0       0
# / was on /dev/md0 during installation
UUID=5660ce70-4df9-464e-8eff-e6911b5c60ed /               ext3    errors=remount-ro 0       1
# swap was on /dev/md1 during installation
UUID=43688e7e-6726-4a23-93cc-c40a933e07cf none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/scd0       /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
And in /var/log/messages all the time is that error messages:

Code:
Nov 9 09:11:08 kautkas kernel: [13459127.990249] VFS: busy inodes on changed media or resized disk sr0

Can you mount the drives in a live cd or another computer. Test both.
