I want to be able to use my computer to print documents.
I am using Slackware 9.0 and an Epson stylus color 600.
I have tried many times to get things working via Linuxprinting.org, I still can't print. The main problem that I have been running into is accessing
http://localhost:631/documentation.html. I have never been able to access "localhost:631" I have no idea what "localhost:631" is. This is not the first time that Ive had this problem.
Aside from that I understand that my printer will "work perfectly with stp" whatever that means. I went through and installed gimp-print (i.e. downloaded and typed ./configure; make; make install) and things went nicely. I understand that there is something called KDEPrint which makes printer setup easy, how do I get KDEPrint? I think I probably already have it, how do I access it?
Is there a command that I can enter into a command line to see if my printer is being detected?
Ive been able to use many applications to print to "lp" which is "accepting jobs" or "rejecting jobs" depending on the weather. No matter what it's doing, nothing ever prints.
I have absolutely no idea about this. Any help or references would be appreciated.
