printer support

Other than HP, what printer/scanners are supported by Linux systems such as Ubuntu?

Thanks to all.

See http://linuxprinting.org

This site has a database of supported, un supported and partially supported printers, scanners and all in ones.

That database tends to be a bit out of date, since it depends on people adding entries. As you know, HP has excellent support and so does Samsung. Otherwise, if you fancy a particular printer, it's easiest to look on-line for what's available. For example, a search for "linux brother drivers" took me to Brother's site where you can search by product.

With printers I like to keep things simple and I look no further than HP, which has always made a point of being Linux-friendly.

Others can recommend currently available non-HP models (or other HP ones) which are also Linux-compatible.

I have this HP 8620 e-All-in-One wireless printer and it works perfectly in Linux Mint and Ubuntu.

Another possability...

The newer Canon ink-jet models have drivers for Linux available on Canon support sites.

Is the printer use such that one might consider a laser printer and a seperate scanner? Many laser printer have good linux support.

In that case, you might try to get hold of a used Canon LiDE USB scanners that is supported by sane.
