Please help! US Robotics 56k performance pro problem


I just can't get it to work . Oddly, on ttys0 it says initiallizing modem...like its reading it, but it does nothing. All the others do nothing. Please help me. I'm new to linux all together.

I'm using mandrake 10

Does the modem show any sign of being initialized such as blinking lights?
Try probing the modem using minicom
