Please Help - Possible Hard Drive Failure
I received an error on bootup about a short read on a filesystem. It then dumped me into the maintenance login.
The output of `fsck /dev/hdf1` is as follows:
fsck.ext3: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while trying to open /dev/hdf1
Could this be a zero length partition?
As it happens, /dev/hdf1 is a 200GB drive that has all of my files on it, so I am really out of luck if this just went down.
I also checked the partition table with a fdisk -l. I don't want to transcribe the entire output over to this computer but it recognizes the drive as 203 GB, and shows 1 boot partition, starting at sector 1 and ending 24792.
Please help. I will get another drive if this one is failing but I need to get into it one last time to get all of the info off of it.
