philips pcrw5232P drive

hi

i have a philips pcrw5232P drive but for some reason it stopped reading and writing discs. Is there some tool i can use to check what's going on?
If i insert a disc i can't even read it ...

Are you seure its working ? Maybe its broken internally . Anywayz try to see if u find /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd , if u do the it should read. If you did find it then insert a cd and try mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 as rot and see what happens...

i found them both, but still nothings happens when a cd is inserted

try mounting them manually:
In terminal become root and type:
mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 , if that doesnt work try typing : mount /dev/hdd /media/cdrom0

If you get any erros reply...

this works, but i think my drive is broken
Because i have a second cd-rom and this works perfectly
