PCMCIA graphics chip?! (laptop)

Does anyone know if I can get PCMCIA graphics chips for my laptop?

I have an Sis661/741 graphics chip in my laptop and I can't get direct rendering to work so I'm looking for a PC card add-on with nvidia graphics.

Thanks.

I didn't even know such things existed, and the list of supported PCMCIA devices at

http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/

does not even mention graphics adapters. The list is however nearly a year old and is certainly no longer complete. But still this seems pretty specialised. If you have a particular brand/model in mind and google gives you nothing I think you may be out of luck.

I'm pretty sure external add-on graphics boards don't exist, because a video card requires a stable, constant high-speed interface with the motherboard. Things like PCMCIA or USB just aren't suitable for graphics, since they are nowhere near being stable or fast enough.

There really is such a thing. Google for "vtbook". It's aimed at people wanting to run multiple displays on a notebook. Not cheap either.

EDIT: I just took my own advice from post #2. There is a linux driver for this thing:
