pci=nomsi - what do I miss ?

Hello All,

After days of troubleshooting, it seems that the pci=nomsi boot option solves my problem.

So, before closing the ticket, I'd like to know what I miss by disabling the PCI MSI feature.

Don't waste your time explaining what it does, because I wont understand your explanation ;-(

Just tell me if performances are impacted or if this could lead to other problems in the future.

TIA

MSI is message signaled interrupts and if I remember correctly it just means you'll miss out on special information coming in with interrupts on your system.

Regards,

Well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Message...led_Interrupts

If an interface, like PCIE, does not have separate interrupt pins, then it will not be able to generate an interrupt.

So if I understand, no impact on performances.

Just a possible problem in the future, when adding hardware.

Right ?
